Welcome!

Welcome to the new site for the Castleton Center for Teaching and Learning, a resource for educators at Castleton University!

This site was in the works before this current need arose, but we are glad to offer it as a resource to you.  In this work I am joined by Coordinator of Instructional Technology Sarah Chambers and Associate Professor of Mathematics Gillian Galle.  Gillian and I are working together on this project as “Canvas Champions” through a grant from the Vermont State Colleges and the Teaching and Learning Technologies working group. We will be building this site in the next few days, and we will continually be adding resources.  To get a notification as we update, sign up to receive an email; the RSS feed link is at the top of the page.

The establishment of the center has been underway for some time as an outcome of our recent grant from the Davis Educational Foundation and the support of Chief Academic Officer Jonathan Spiro and Provost Thomas Mauhs-Pugh. The latest steps this spring 2020 are made possible through support of the Pathway to Graduation project funded by a recent Title III grant from the US Department of Education.

I am honored and humbled to serve as the inaugural director of the center. This position is a faculty position in support of faculty and staff at Castleton. While it entails some “administrative” responsibilities, the position is emphatically not involved in faculty evaluation. While I will have to report on the work of the center, all interactions with faculty and staff will be kept in the strictest confidence. As we actualize the center, my upcoming tasks will be to assess the needs of the faculty and staff and plan new initiatives accordingly. For now, if you have ideas, suggestions, or a request to make of the CTL please get in touch with me right away at Christopher.boettcher@castleton.edu.
