Times… they are a-changing. It’s almost one full year since we got sent home to pivot and start teaching online. You had a pretty intense crash course in Canvas, but then Zoom and YuJa snuck in there too as necessities for communicating. All the while, Aviso – the advising software that we rolled out – has patiently been biding its time, waiting for its turn to shine.
Once Self-Service made it onto the map, a very powerful connection was made. You see, if you access one of your advisees in Aviso, you can then check their Program Evaluation which in turn is connected to Self-Service. (You know, like Kelley said we could back in the Self-Service FAQ)
What does this mean for you? What does this mean for the students?
A whole new way to look for classes in the catalog and ensure the student stays on track for graduation!
…Just in time for Fall 2021 registration.
It also means that:
- Students can “plan” their schedule by searching for and selecting courses through Self-Service.
- You can then see the students’ “shopping carts” and review their plans through Self-Service.
- But in order for the student to complete their registration online, you will still need to go into Webservices to approve them for online registration.
That’s right. We still have Webservices, but this is pretty much the only task you’ll need it for.
Everything else you used to do for advising? It can be accomplished through Aviso and Self-Service.
