Workshop: Scholarship of Teaching and Learning – Part II

This is a workshop that was offered by the Teaching and Scholarship Committee on Wed. April 27, 2022 with the aim of introducing how to design your own action research project. Director of the Castleton University Center for Teaching & Learning Chris Boettcher presents a short review of Part I of this workshop series in addition to announcing a call for research project proposals. Dean of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences Gillian Galle then presents several components of a research project proposal and asks you to reflect on some question in order to guide you in the design of your own study.

You can watch a recording of the workshop here.

When do you want to talk to the HSIRB? Any time!

But really, whenever you’re doing research that involves human subjects, it can’t hurt to check in with them. If you’re doing research solely for your benefit? You may not need their approval. However, if you want to present or publish your findings in order to share them with a wider audience? You will definitely need their approval.

Still not sure? When in doubt: you should talk to the IRB.
