Volume 2.2

Congratulations on making it through the first week of Fall 2021 semester classes!

Many of us were charged up to see people back on campus and connect with them. Others of us were suddenly keenly aware of how few social interactions we’ve had and were faced with reconciling this new more boisterous atmosphere with the relatively quiet one of AY20-21.

There were the usual hiccups with equipment and new hiccups because of the new equipment. There were old faces to reconnect with and new faces to connect with. (Well, I’m pretty sure they were new faces – seeing only half a face is a great way to test how well you can recognize someone…)

This Fall we’ve also started implementing our new general education program: Connections!

We’ve got 24 sections of Connections Seminar 1: Creating Connections running this fall, covering a variety of topics from Business to Theater to Nursing to Education and more! We’re also piloting two sections of Connections Seminar 2: Critical Connections.

So what’s the deal with Connections? And the Seminars? And what’s happening with Soundings? Here at The Educator we thought you could use an intensive resource that addressed our new General Education program so that you can help answer student questions with confidence. So here’s What’s Brewing:

Do you still have questions on the Gen Ed Program? Do you have ideas for future content in The Educator? Let us know! In the meantime, Mark Your Calendars:

  • 9/5/2021: Last day to Add/Drop courses
  • 9/6/2021: Labor Day – No Classes!
  • 9/17-9/19: Homecoming Weekend
  • 10/22/2021: Deadline for faculty to submit grades for Spring 2021 incompletes
