Decorative Exemplar of Classroom Tech

Need some support for your teaching?

The Castleton Center for Teaching and Learning is being “built” with you in mind!

For a calendar of events for CU educators, you can link to our new Events Calendar. The calendar provides important dates for CCTL events as well as other professional development available in the VSC system and other on-campus happenings. Check it out!

The CCTL offers a variety of on-demand services and ongoing programming:

One-on-one support: Need an ear to listen or someone to help you work through a problem? You can receive confidential support and advice on any teaching problem: an extra set of eyes on your syllabus, feedback on something happening in your classroom, help with a teaching problem, advice on an idea you have…. You can also get a class observation(s) and documentation for your RPT file.

Help with Canvas or any instructional technology: you know who your go-to person is, but email CUCanvas@ for any technical questions or help, or make a Help Desk request for any classroom tech needs.

Small support groups: Join a small group that meets regularly on a schedule of the members’ choosing.

Castleton Mentors:  A structured engagement of faculty of all experience levels.  Participants dentify specific topics of interest for discussion and work in pairs or small groups.  Groups will have the opportunity to visit each other’s classes. Third Friday of the month, 2:30-3:30 PM.

Talking Teaching:  Join other faculty and staff members for an informal lunchtime conversation on topics of the day. First Friday of every month, 12-1 PM.

Book Club:  This year, we will be reading Teach Students How to Learn by Saundra Yancy McGuire.  An excellent book with tips and strategies for teaching everything from test taking to motivation. Reading will take place on a fixed schedule and participants will select suitable meeting times.  All participants receive a free copy of the book.

Special workshops and other events To Be Announced!

To sign up for any of these events (all are welcome anytime!) or to get any kind of help, contact Chris Boettcher.
