The Last Cuppa Joe

Welcome to the start of the Spring semester! Can you feel it? There’s change in the air! There’s mainly the change from transformation as we wrap up being the individual institution and entity known as Castleton University (before we’re taken over by the VTSU Borg), which has all sorts of ripple effects. Here at The Educator, we’re not immune from those changes.

Looking back, The Educator started just as we hunkered down for COVID. It was a way to reach out, stay in touch, communicate helpful tips for teaching in a virtual world, and keep our spirits up. Then as we started returning to the classroom, we morphed. We took on a newsletter style and ran ourselves as a publication of the Castleton University Center for Teaching and Learning. We started sharing upcoming workshops, updates on transformation work, and reminding everyone on campus that regardless of your title or position on campus, you are an educator to our students.

But once we become VTSU, there will be a VTSU CTLI and the CU CTL will be no more. So with an eye on the horizon, we’re going to try to change things up around here, to see what new form The Educator might take as it tries to navigate the transformation. What will we become? Stay tuned! And if you have any ideas or suggestions, please share them!

So here’s to the first step in a new direction! Let’s see where it takes us!
