Volunteers needed for Walk to End Alzheimer’s!

Hello Spartans! The Walk to End Alzheimer's is the world's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's care, support and research. Rutland's annual Walk to End Alzheimer's will be taking place Saturday, September 23rd. We desperately need volunteers during the following times:  Set up (7am-8:30am) Tear down (after the walk around 11am – 11:30am) During the walk: crossing guards and cheer brigade (10am – 11am) If you're interested in volunteering for the event, please email tlh12230@vsc.edu.

World Alzheimer’s Day Film Screening!

Hello Spartans!  Did you know that September 21st is World Alzheimer's Day? To raise awareness about the disease that affects 5.5 million people in the United States, the VTSU Castleton Nursing Department, the American Nurses Association of Vermont, and the VTSU Castleton Fine and Performing Arts Program will screen the film Keys Bags Names Words.  Keys Bags Names Words is a quirky and inspiring film portraying stories of the personal and global impacts of Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. It follows a cohort of young scientists and artists from around the world as they harness every aspect of creativity, humor, and compassion to lead the way towards hope and resilience. Volunteers Needed!! | Breast Cancer Walk

We are looking for volunteers to help at the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk on Saturday, October 22nd at the Pavilion!  Join us for a day of fun while we raise funds to help in the fight against breast cancer.  We couldn't run this event without our amazing community of volunteers.   Areas we need assistance with include, but are not limited to: Set up for pre-event festivities: Assist with setting up decorations, tables, route signs, activity stations. Expected time of arrival for shift: 7:30AM – 10:30AM Cheer on walkers/Work the water/food stations on the routes As people walk by, cheer them on, give them items and replenish food as needed 12:45PM – 2:30PM or when walkers are done Help with kids' games: Expected time of arri...

Multicultural Meetings!

Interested in the The Multicultural Club? Come check them out every other Wednesday at 5-6pm in the Campus Center Formal Lounge! We welcome all students regardless of gender, race, and background, etc! The purpose of the Multi-Cultural Club is to foster an inclusive community and promote the diverse cultures and backgrounds at Vermont State University. Thus, it is not exclusively for the international student population and everyone’s presence is welcomed and highly appreciated. Spectrum Pride!

Would you like to unite and educate the community while still having fun? Check out Spectrum Pride! They meet every Monday from 5pm - 6pm in the Audet Classroom! Spectrum Pride's purpose is to create a safe community and environment for LGBTQ+ individuals as well as to raise awareness and acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community. This is achieved through both events that Spectrum Pride plans and through creating a fun environment during our meetings. We meet Tuesdays from 5 pm - 6:30 pm in the Campus Center Formal Lounge! As a club, we run under the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. This organization works to achieve equality, political rights, and social inclusion. Our club has decided to focus on education and outreach within our campus community and beyond as well as policy reform through the VTSU transition. JOIN PAC: Victim Advocacy Training!

Interested in being a member of PAC? The Peer Advocates for CHANGE group includes student victim advocates who attend training to respond 24/7 to students in need of support for situations of stalking, relationship violence, sexual assault and/or harassment.  (Not all who attend training end up staffing the phone.  Don’t panic if you are hesitant to be a PACline crisis worker.)  This training is a great opportunity to enhance your skills regarding advocacy as well as learn about rape culture, rape myths, dating violence, power and control, and learn about the resources on campus and in the community.  It is especially complimentary to the following majors:  criminal justice, social work, nursing, psychology, sociology, community health/health promot...
