Volume 2.5

The end of the Fall 2021 semester is in sight! There are just a few more final exams to get through…

Is it just me or has time just flown this semester? Simultaneously, I am equally certain this has been one of the longest semesters ever.

Could it be all the change? Change is upon us in so many ways: the return to face-to-face classes, new technology in the classrooms, new ideas for what the new college (the VSU) will look like, new COVID variants, new student concerns… Not to mention the number of impending personnel changes as so many of our beloved colleagues retire: Betty Moyer, Victoria Angis, Lori Arner, Chuck Lavoie, and Jonathan Spiro (just to name a few).

So as we wrap up the end of the semester, I just want you to know that we see you. We know you’re still running the marathon that we thought was going to be a sprint that started back in March 2020. Collectively, we’re tired, we’re anxious,… heck, we may even be a little afraid. (I mean, who wouldn’t be? Change is scary!)

Nonetheless… you keep going. We keep going. I remain in awe of each and every employee on this campus. It is us, collectively, that make Castleton the special place it is. No matter what they choose to name us, we will remain Castleton at heart as long as we still support each other and continue to embody the Castleton Way.

Did you miss the Community Day: Connecting with Gratitude? Then you deserve to hear what each and every attendee got to hear:

Thank you.

Thank you for getting up each morning and coming to work.
Thank you for continuing to connect with our students and trying to assuage their fears (when we know you have plenty of your own).
Thank you for being there for each other, whether you provided a shoulder to cry on, a kind word, or even just smiling as you make eye contact with another employee.

We literally couldn’t have done this without you.

So as you continue to count down the days until you get to take a well-deserved respite, here’s What’s Brewing:

Don’t forget, Final Grades are due January 3, 2022! Can’t remember how to submit your final grades using Canvas? Sarah Chambers made a video for that!

Be sure to check out out the CTL Events Calendar for news about other upcoming programs and other important matters for faculty and staff.

We hope you have a recuperative break and we’ll CU next year!
