Penelope’s Odyssey!

Thursday, February 9th, 2023 7pm in the Casella Theater Penelope’s Odyssey tells the story of Penelope and the women in the classic epic poem, Homer’s The Odyssey, through dance. In this contemporary version, choreographer Sonia Plumb focuses on gender roles and societal norms as seen through the lens of time by weaving in topics of romance, betrayal, single motherhood, arranged marriage, war, and perseverance. In partnership with The Bushnell’s “Local Arts Stage” community digital arts project, dancers and audiences are surrounded by projections filmed in Greece – underwater, in the mountains, and in the ruins. Penelope’s husband left for war and is MIA. She is raising their son as a single mother. A suitor is vying for her hand in marriage – but what they really want is her throne...

Prize and Free Money: Returning Student Scholarship Workshop!

Did you know that Castleton awards thousands of dollars in scholarships each year? If you’re a good student with financial need, chances are you qualify for one or more returning student scholarships. Unfortunately, relatively few students take the time to apply. That’s why the Academic Support Center is teaming up with the McNair Scholars Program to offer a Returning Student Scholarships workshop on Thursday, February 9th from 12:30-1:30pm in the Academic Support Center in Babcock. During this session, we’ll walk you through the Returning Student Scholarship Application process. You’ll come away with all the information you need to apply before the March 10th deadline. Fellowship of Christian Athletes!

They meet in the upstairs formal lounge of the Campus Center. Feel welcome to join in as they kick-off this semester with group discussions upon different topics of the Bible and have good fellowship with one another. Everyone is welcome to attend! This club isn't limited to just athletes- it is open to non-athletes as well, so everyone is invited to come and check it out! Tomásio: Abstractions of a Metaphorical World: Artist Reception

Saturday, February 4th from 5:30pm - 7:29pm meet the artist and enjoy light refreshments while viewing the newest gallery show! 12 - 6 pm | Castleton Bank Gallery, 104 Merchants Row, Rutland Thomas Hacker, aka Tomásio, creates robust energetic acrylic paintings that explode off the canvas in every imaginable hue. These multilayered works ask the viewer to look into themselves to find the organization and abstract forms shifting in the pigment. Tomásio’s creative work ranges from music, poetry, sculpture and fashion. Working at Spring Lake Ranch as a peer support specialist, Tomásio helps people in the wood shop, collaborates on artistic endeavors, helps ranchers unravel problems, and plays piano for the community of Shrewsbu...
