Attention Seniors Graduating in May: Mandatory Loan Exit Counseling!

Students who are graduating in May that have borrowed Federal Direct Loans (subsidized and unsubsidized loans) are required to complete online loan exit counseling.  This is done at https://studentaid.gov (sign in using your FAFSA username/password) and under the Manage Loans tab you will see “Complete Exit Counseling”.  This is an information session that helps you review what you have borrowed to date and what will happen when you begin to repay your loans.  If you have questions about this process you can email student.aid@castleton.edu.

Students Eligible for Federal Pell Grants Can Register for Broadband Discount May 12

Students Eligible for Federal Pell Grants can register next week for broadband discount https://getemergencybroadband.org/ The FCC has announced that consumers can begin applying for and enrolling in the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program on May 12, 2021. The program will end when the fund runs out of money, or six months after the Department of Health and Human Services declares an end to the COVID-19 health emergency, whichever is sooner. The Emergency Broadband Benefit Program is a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) program that provides a temporary discount on monthly broadband bills for qualifying low-income households. Students are now eligible to apply for SNAP benefits (3SquaresVT)

In December 2020, Congress passed legislation that temporarily changes SNAP eligibility requirements for college students. College students enrolled at least half-time and who meet income and eligibility requirements can now qualify for SNAP.  If you think you might qualify for SNAP, call the Vermont Food Bank at (855) 855-6181 or text VFBSNAP to 85511 to learn more.   Additional information can be found here https://collegesnapproject.org/vermont/

Duck Day Postponed to Friday April 23rd!

Due to the incoming inclement weather for Wednesday (thanks, New England in spring!!! 🙁 ), Duck Day has been postponed to THIS Friday, April 23rd!  Residence Life will still be outside on the Huden Patio from 10-3 PM, handing out prizes to folks who find a duck! Please note, participants may only redeem one duck. Only one duck per person! Our ducks will be hidden throughout campus in outside locations. See y'all on Friday!

I would like to give a friendly reminder to everyone that it’s now election season here at Castleton University! Student Government Association (SGA) elections began Monday, April 19th, and will last until 12:00 PM (noon) on Friday, April 23rd. I strongly encourage every student to cast their vote! Summer Financial Aid Application Available for Summer Courses

Summer Aid Application: https://www.castleton.edu/admissions/scholarships-financial-aid/important-forms/2021-2022-important-forms/ Students enrolled in any Vermont State College System courses over the summer are encouraged to submit a summer financial aid application. You do need to have a completed FAFSA on file to be eligible for federal aid, including summer aid. Summer aid can consist of federal pell grants and/or federal loans depending on your eligibility.  Completed forms can be emailed to student.aid@castleton.edu or dropped of at Woodruff Hall in Financial and Registration Services.  Email student.aid@castleton.edu if you have any questions.

We want to be sure that everyone in our community can get access to library resources, whether they’re on campus or off. Sometimes, though, users run into errors. Here are a couple of steps to try if you’re unable to log into a database or request an interlibrary loan (ILL). Clear your browser history. Castleton IT has a blog post explaining how to do this (and why it may sometimes be necessary).Try a different browser. If you’re in Safari, for example, try doing the same thing in Firefox or Chrome.Contact the library at 802-468-1256 or library@castleton.edu or IT at 802-468-1221 or ithelp@castleton.edu.
